Meet Dr. Maggie
Dr. Maggie’s Story
Dr. Maggie Stupakewicz has always been fascinated by the human body, and more specifically the skeletal system. As a young girl, she began ice skating and after a few years of experience, she fractured her coccyx (the tailbone). After many days of x-rays, and doctor visits, Maggie ended up back at home with little other help then ice and Ibuprofen. Maggie’s mother, Tracy, decided to take her in to a chiropractors office one day for her own visit. Her coccyx was broken in an unusual direction, and was now positioned 90° to the left in relation to the sacrum. The chiropractor told her this would cause further problems with how the muscles and ligaments of the pelvis functioned, and that her pelvic floor, hips, and lower back would no longer work optimally.
Dr. Maggie will tell you that this was the day she started down her chiropractic pathway. After her adjustment she knew this career had just chosen her. She was fascinated with the way the doctor had described her x-rays, how he approached the examination, and how he talked to her throughout the entire adjustment in words that she could understand. She decided in high school at age 14, to plan the next 4 years of her education towards a chiropractic curriculum. She took anatomy, physiology, biology, and chemistry, along with the usual mathematics, history and English of high school education.
Continuing Education
In Dr. Maggie’s senior year of high school, she was offered a figure skating scholarship to Lindenwood, and along with a skating program, Lindenwood also had a chiropractic program that they created with Logan University, named the 3+3 program. In this program, students attend 3 years at Lindenwood completing prerequisites then attending Logan for 3 years in the Doctor of Chiropractic Program. Dr. Maggie finished her time at Lindenwood in 2 years, and lengthened her time at Logan by 1 year, then graduating with her Bachelors of Science in Life Science in 2014 and her Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2017.
Since graduating, Dr. Maggie has furthered her education by joining the ICPA and completing the Webster Technique Certification and the Perinatal Certification, allowing her to be able to work on pregnant patients. She is continuing to learn more and more about pregnancy and infant care.
